On Thursday last week we flew over to Ireland for our G&T Irish mini tour. We started on Thursday evening playing at the Cafe Sessions in Cavan. What a fantastic wee venue to play in. We also loved hearing My Fellow Sponges who were also playing that night. We then stayed at Gráinne’s family home and enjoyed lots of lovely food.
On the Friday we travelled to Dublin where we played the session in the Cobblestone which was great fun. Bumped into a few friendly faces which was nice too.
Saturday saw us in a rehearsal with fantastic bodhrán player Paul Mc Clure as he was due to join us on stage that evening. This was our first time playing with Paul and we really enjoyed it. We then all went back to Gráinne’s sister’s flat where we had yet more lovely food before heading out to The Seamus Ennis Centre for our evening gig.
We were absolutely over the moon to be supporting the brilliant Dick Gaughan at the Seamus Ennis Centre. We opened the night with a 40 minute set and Paul joined us for all sets apart from a slow tune. It was fantastic to have Paul playing with us and we’d like to say a big thanks to him.
The Seamus Ennis Centre is a great spot to play in, a lovely intimate venue. After our set we were talking to Dick Gaughan backstage and he was giving us high praises and asked for our CD which we were delighted to give him. Then on stage he said something about us which we are really chuffed about and we’re so happy to be able to use it as a quote from now on (we did ask):
“It’s very rare you hear something that makes you go: ‘Wow! That’s totally original.'”
